How It Works

Kitchen renovation costs in the UK vary enormously by specification. A budget kitchen (flat-pack units, laminate worktops, basic appliances) costs £5,000–£10,000. A mid-range kitchen (solid-wood doors, quartz worktops, integrated appliances) runs to £10,000–£20,000. A premium kitchen (bespoke cabinetry, natural stone, high-end appliances) can exceed £25,000–£40,000 or more.

Installation costs are separate: fitting a kitchen typically costs £3,000–£8,000 depending on scope. This includes removal of the old kitchen, plumbing, electrics (new circuits may be needed for induction hobs), tiling, plastering and flooring. A full kitchen refit usually takes 2–4 weeks.

Enter your kitchen size, specification level and the scope of work. The calculator breaks the estimate into units, worktops, appliances, plumbing, electrics, tiling and fitting labour. It also flags items that need Building Regulations notification (such as new electrical circuits or moving a gas supply).

Example: Mid-range kitchen, 12 m², full refit

  1. Units and worktops: £8,000
  2. Appliances (oven, hob, extractor, dishwasher, fridge-freezer): £3,500
  3. Plumbing and electrics: £2,500
  4. Tiling, flooring, plastering: £2,000
  5. Installation labour: £5,000 — Total: ~£21,000 including VAT
